The rookie Bombers have exceeded all expectations, but the long campaign has started to take its toll on the battle-scarred girls ahead of Glenorchy at Invermay Park.
"So we're not going to risk anybody that is a bit doubtful right now," Smith said.
"These games, this week and the next few, won't impact the ladder whatsoever.
"We know we're playing Clarence in that first final, so really it's about managing them to get through to there."
Seven players are out this week, but some are unavailable after the game was forced to change from Sunday to make way for NTJFA finals.
The Bombers lost key defender Michaela Carins to a broken arm in a tackle last week against Clarence.
But the lack of luck extends to the loss of Sarah Radford to a horse-riding incident.
"Because we're so young we are really starting to suffer with the physicality of the game," Smith said.
"Just the bigger, strong physical players sort of playing against younger players."
Glenorchy has won both times the two teams have clashed this year, but the coach said there is an upside to the club's last home fixture.
"It's trying to keep them positive and understand that at the start of the season. I just wanted them to be enjoying their footy and not to put too much stress on them. With so many players out, we look for the little wins that we can get," Smith said.
Launceston will bring two of its big names back Sunday.
AFLW stars Daria Bannister and Chloe Haines return from a break, while Abbey Green has recovered from a niggly shoulder and Lauren Stevenson from an ankle.
Coach Angela Dickson did admit the Blues facing lowly Tigers at home is not ideal.
"We would like to have harder games coming up to finals," she said.
"Like I say week in, week out, we create our own kind of contest among ourselves to be able to keep us going and keeping us at a higher standard. So comes finals' time, we're ready to go."
After keeping Lauderdale scoreless last week, Dickson plans to play her defenders on the ball to run them fit.
"That's something we'll continue to do in the last two games as well," she said.
