Chris Taylor resigned at the end of last week.
Mr Taylor has declined to comment on his resignation.
However, it is believed he may be returning to Queensland to take up a position with the government.
Ms White paid tribute to Mr Taylor.
"Chris Taylor has been a valuable asset to the Labor team," she said.
"We wish him all the best as he embarks on a new challenge."
Mr Taylor was recruited to work for former Labor leader Bryan Green in 2014.
His LinkedIn profile shows he was a senior journalist at News Limited from 1993-2004 and from 2005 to 2012 he worked for the Queensland Government as a senior media adviser.
Mr Taylor was former Queensland Premier Anna Bligh's long-time media adviser.
He took time out to return to Queensland to work on Labor's 2015 election campaign.
Mr Taylor, 52, who has worked as a journalist in Darwin, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, is credited with playing a big role in Labor's Queensland election wins.
He is widely respected both as a journalist and key Labor media strategist.
At times he has been a thorn in the side of the Tasmanian Government.
"One of his great strengths has been to flush out stories and get under the government's skin," a Labor source said.
Coincidentally, Ms White has recently lost two other media advisers.
Luke Edmunds left recently after flagging his intention to resign three months ago and Penny Brewer also resigned last week.
