Following their ground-breaking 85-point victory over Perth, cousins and Meander Valley faithful Rob Shaw and Alex Wadley will have a day to remember as they take on Uni Mowbray this weekend.
Both men are heavily involved in the off-field operations of the rising club with Shaw the Auskick coordinator and club delegate and Wadley coaching the fourth-placed women's side and managing the club's social media accounts and membership numbers.
On-field the pair have forged highly respected careers at opposite ends of the ground with Shaw receiving numerous best backman and most courageous awards and Wadley a regular feature in the goal-kicking column, including a century year in the club's inaugural and premiership season in the Leven competition.
Shaw credits that 2012 premiership as the ultimate career highlight but an off-field moment in his Auskick role is creating a priceless memory for the hard-nosed defender.
"Coaching the Auskickers this year with my son William involved has been really special," he said.
"There's been a few hardships along the way with some big losses, however this year looks like a real turning point of the club and finals is not beyond us in any grade which is great to see."
Joining the Suns from upcoming opponents Uni Mowbray, Wadley has previously represented the NTFA in the division two game in 2009 and has relished the opportunity to build a club in his home-town.
"To see the work that we have done to establish more opportunities for Auskickers right through to senior women to play Aussie Rules, bucking the trend of clubs dying out in today's football landscape is a credit to all involved," Wadley said
"To play my 100th with my mate and cousin Rob is unbelievable, as is by twist of fate playing against my former club Uni where I have many fond memories and have a lot of respect for."
Meander Valley sit seventh on the NTFA Division One ladder with two victories.
