That previous win was the high point of Port Adelaide's season when it out ran and out gunned reigning premier West Coast at Optus Stadium to the tune of 42 points, and a similar mentally is likely to be needed against a Hawks side that has won 25 of its past 28 in their adopted city.
What will also work in the Power's favour is the fact that only three points separated the sides at the final siren last year at the ground, with Port having an impressive 5-4 record in the city.
"Last year it was definitely a challenge, and unfortunately we fell short, but they play the ground really well and we know it will be a big task for us,'' the 22-year-old told The Examiner.
"We played West Coast earlier in the year and they really do play a similar brand to Hawthorn so I think we have the opportunity that if we play our brand of footy and we can manipulate the opposition and counterattack on them."
