Just a couple of weeks after sharing a world championship madison silver medal, Rio Olympic teammates Amy Cure and Georgia Baker dominated the elite women's 10km scratch race.
In a thrilling sprint finish, Cure, of West Pine, held off a late charge from Baker, of Perth, and their regular team pursuit colleague Ashlee Ankudinoff (NSW) to clinch a third straight title.
Cure made an ambitious breakaway with 15 laps to go of the 40-lap race with Josie Talbot (NSW) and Chloe Moran (SA) before Alex Manly (SA) reeled in the trio.
Cure and Manly went clear before sitting up for the sprint finish.
"It was really good, I was happy to cross the line first but I wasn't sure how I was going to go as I've been a bit sick so I'm really happy with my performance tonight," said Cure, who will look to defend her points race title on Saturday's final day of competition.
And there was a maiden senior national medal for Launceston's Josh Duffy in the elite men's time trial.
Former junior world champion Thomas Cornish (NSW) claimed his maiden elite national title by clocking 1min 1.653secs in the 1km event.
Victorian Godfrey Slattery (1:03.004) squeezed out Duffy (1:03.258) for silver.
The Tasmanian team, which also includes Lauren Perry, Zack Gilmore and Macey Stewart, is being coached by Matthew Gilmore of the TIS.
In other cycling news, Launceston's Richie Porte remains scheduled to contest the week-long Tour of California with his Trek-Segafredo team in May.
The 34-year-old, who finished last week's Volta a Catalunya in Barcelona in 38th place, will then return to Europe to focus on the Tour de France.
Teammate Will Clarke, of Campbell Town, who turns 34 next week, dropped out of the Catalunya tour after the fourth of seven stages.
Hobart's Nathan Earle, 30, is in the Israel Cycling Academy team to contest the 193km Gran Premio Miguel Indurain one-day race in Spain.
