Hodgetts, known as 'the Hulk', has returned home to compete in the State titles this weekend in Hobart, a strong performance here should consolidate his spot on the Australian para team.

"I just want to get a good throw out there and get another world championship qualifier [throw]," Hodgetts said.

"If I get a season's best or a  that'd be awesome if I get the qualifying standard then that'd be good."

With a B qualifier already completed, Hodgetts said he was definitely ready for a good performance at the titles. 

"With my new technique and rotational we'll see what happens," he said.

"You've just got to get it all together I guess, technique first and then the distance will come.

"I'm in pretty good form so I've just got to do it in the competition."

Hodgetts said it was awesome to be back in Tasmania and representing the Newstead Athletics Club, of which he is a life member, in Hobart. 

"It's always great to be back here, I love it," he said.

Hodgetts has already put together an impressive career, with gold medals from both the IPC Championship and Paralympics.

He said his trip to Dubai would serve as a chance to bolster his resume. "I believe I have a good chance of winning," Hodgetts said.

"They'll be a good lead up for Tokyo [2020 Paralympics].

"Every time you represent your country you're creating history and that's what I want to do. It doesn't come down to money, it comes down to honour."
