The Grand Prix for Super Sedans has a long and prestigious history and is so highly regarded that 27 drivers have entered and all states are represented.
Held over two nights with a pole shuffle before the final, the list of previous winners contains some of the biggest names in speedway.
Defending grand prix winner Matt Pascoe will have a massive battle on his hands if he wants to become just the third driver to win it back-to-back since the race’s inception in the mid-‘70s.
Current Australian champion and runner up last year, Callum Harper wants to add his name to the event he won two years ago.
Multiple Australian champion Darren Kane, formerly of Hobart has yet to win this event despite having won nearly every major race in the country.
Sean Black and Sam Roza also from Queensland, will certainly be pushing hard for a victory.
South Australians Dave Gartner, Ryan Alexander and Kim Jury all return for another shot at taking victory.
Gartner certainly has shown he has the pace, finishing on the podium at numerous Australian super sedan championships.
Darren Anning, Andrew White and Darryl Moon of New South Wales are three drivers who know how to turn up the excitement in their quest to win.
Popular Victorian driver Lucas Roberts is joined by Peter and Mick Nicola who are always fast. Mick Nicola was Tasmanian champion two years ago and is a regular visitor.
Kemble Aylett and his son Lee have made the long trek from Western Australia and will no doubt factor in the final.
Formula 500s have a restored field with several drivers returning from the Speedweek series on the mainland.
Matt Redpath returns from Victoria and will be a hard driver for the locals to beat.
Adam Garwood lines up for his second race meeting on the speedway and will continue to improve, while Dylan Beveridge, Taylor Johnson and Kristian Kelly will be serious contenders.
Street stocks have a massive 27-car field for both nights including new state champion Nathan Russell, and coastal competitors Troy Russell, Dale Riley Jr and Ben Riley won’t wish him success on their home track.
The large modifieds field for both nights will provide close, hard racing.
Josh Marston makes a welcome return to the field and will be eager to rub panels with Brad Herbert, Jakobe Jetson and Craig Williams.
Junior New Stars and Top Stars will compete on both nights with a large entry list, while wingless sprints returns after several weeks off.
Gates open at 3pm with flag drop at 6pm on both nights.
