In a development application, lodged with the Break O’Day council, eight shipping containers would be used to create the proposal.
The accommodation is proposed to be built at Upper Scamander, and would have views of the Scamander River.
Each design would be identical with a habitable footprint of 62 metres squared, the development application said.
“These innovative designs will be constructed using two 40ft stacked shipping containers, with a small new addition for one bathroom,” it said.
“This accommodation development will contribute in providing visitors more unique opportunity to visit the beautiful East Coast and stay at a quiet, peaceful and enjoyable setting.”
The outside of the building would be mostly be a dark metal colour, with feature glazing and rammed earth walls.
Solar collection and water harvesting tanks will be included and each will have its own waste water design.
Each design will also feature a green roof. The design has been “carefully” considered to ensure maximum privacy.
“The proposed development keeps the overall footprint and clearing of vegetation to as minimal as possible, as the appeal is the location and surrounds in which they are placed,” the application said.
The application is open for comment until June 29.
