Blowouts were the order of the day as round 8 of the NWFL continued on Saturday, with ladder-leaders Burnie and fellow top four side Latrobe overpowering lower-ranked opponents.

The Dockers, playing on their home deck of West Park for the first time in 2018, defeated Penguin 23.24 (162) to 7.6 (48), with Harry Walters leading the charge in front of goals with a haul of 8.14.
Burnie took control early with a 7.11 to 1.1 first quarter and kicked another 7.3 to 1.4 in the third term on its way to its 114-point victory.
Jack McCulloch also kicked four and Rudy Barrett three for the Dockers, with Kade Munday and Dylan Smith dominant in the middle, while Nick McKenna controlled the ruck.
The Dockers’ win was its seventh from its first eight games of 2018.
Toby Skene, Jack Templeton, Will Huxtable and Jake Wray-McCann were Penguin’s best, with Ben Hardy kicking two goals.
Latrobe also had a big win on Saturday, downing East Devonport by 104 points, 22.20 (152) to 7.6 (48).
Like Burnie, Latrobe took control from the opening bounce, kicking 7.1 to 1.4 in the first quarter, before kicking another 13 to five through the next two terms.
Latrobe finished with 10 goal-kickers, with Adam Jeffrey (five), Caleb Van Buuren and Shaun McCrossen (four each) the pick of the bunch.
McCrossen, Van Buuren, Brayden Butler and Tyler Kelly finished in the best for the Demons, with East Devonport best served by Jesse Purton, Jack Triffett, Phillip Davis and Warwick Purton.
Purton and coach Nick Milbourne were the Swans’ best in front of goals with two each.
The margin was a bit more friendly at Smithton, with Wynyard coming from behind at quarter-time to spoil Scott Bryan’s 200th senior game party as the Cats downed Circular Head Giants by 35 points.
Wynyard won 16.14 (110) to 11.9 (75) after being behind by nine points at the first break.
A six goal to two third term saw the visitors break away after being just three points up at half-time with Samuel Kalbfell, Zachary Smith, Zane Murphy and Sam Gleeson their best four.
Murphy kicked four goals and Tane Routledge for Wynyard, while Nathan Bransden with three was the Giants best in front of the sticks.
Thomas Charles, Toby Reeve, Bryan and Ryan Grey were Circular Head’s best quartet.
The round started on Friday night at Devonport Oval when Ulverstone accounted for the Magpies by 75 points.
The Robins won 14.8 (102) to 3.9 (27), Timothy Mee, Liam Davies, Brodie Connelly and Travis Brett finishing among their best, with Claye Sculthorpe (four goals) and Jake Sushames (three) taking charge in attack.
Jack Rand kicked two of Devonport’s three goals to finish as its best player, with Ben Hawkes, Alex Jolly and Liam Williams also strong.
Next week will see Ulverstone host Latrobe in a top-four showdown, East Devonport welcome Penguin, Burnie battle Circular Head Giants and Wynyard tackle Devonport.
