The St John Craft Beer-hosted festival saw a big crowd on Vincent Street to sample the 27 beers on tap from early in the afternoon.
By decorating the space with an abundance of hops and vines, organisers showed off the theme for 2018.
“We’ve put more effort into decorating this year...we really wanted to make the place like a secret garden,” St John co-owner and festival organiser Tim Jarosz said.
Every beer at the festival was brewed during the two-day hops harvest period in March or April.
Mr Jarosz said one stood out in particular.
“The brewers from Modus Operandi and Hobart Brewing Company were both ex-brewers in Colorado, so they catch up once a year and they make a beer for the Festival,” he said.
“This year it’s called Best Before Yesterday.”
The festival goes until 11pm on Saturday and will continue on Sunday between 11am and 5pm.
Tickets are available for $20 at the gate or through eventbrite.com.au.
