Eskleigh Foundation chief executive Dale Luttrell said the car display was a first for the art show, a bid in its push to grow the event beyond a strictly indoor occasion.
‘‘It’s an addition to the art award activity program – we’ll have 10 to 15 cars from the MG Car Club,’’ Mr Luttrell said.
‘‘We want to get families involved in the day. They can come and look at the art show, have a picnic in the garden and look at the cars on display.’’
A wide variety of MGs will be on display, ranging from about 65 to seven years old — including a John James 1953 British racing green MG TD model and a 2007 MG F.
The cars will be on show in front of the homestead, in a scene that will be reminiscent of a famous photo of Eskleigh from 1908.
The day will also include a question-and-answer panel with art judges William Mora Galleries principal William Mora, artist and photographer Vivienne Hale and Tasmanian College of the Arts senior lecturer Malcom Bywaters.
The panel will run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, hosted by former journalist with The Examiner Alison Andrews.
