Hadspen's Gary Graeme Musicka, 19, pleaded guilty in the Launceston Supreme Court today to wounding.
The court heard the victim was at Lloyds Hotel in the city when a drunk Musicka derided him for apparently looking like a hippy.
A short time later Musicka could be seen attacking the man on CCTV footage which was played to the court. ``He's holding a bottle and he's the aggressor and ultimately he punches at the complainant while holding the bottle,'' crown prosecutor John Ransom.
The stubby of beer shattered on the second blow cutting the victim's ear which required stitches, he said.
Defence counsel Fran McCracken said on the morning of March 14 her client was so drunk he couldn't remember the attack.
Prior to the incident he'd been drinking at the Longford Hotel where he drank 10 beers and two shots of tequila before having more alcohol at Lloyds.
The Westbury dairy farm worker pleaded guilty early and was remorseful for the attack, she said.
The victim, a former security guard, was not psychologically scarred by the attack, the court heard.
Justice Helen Wood remanded Musicka on bail for sentencing on December 11.
