The new reports will see a move away from the continuum reporting method to an A-to-E grading system and descriptive blurb for grades 3 to 10 students.
Prep and grade 1 and 2 pupils will receive only a descriptive blurb.
Prep children will receive a report only at the end of the year.
Riverside principal Jane Bovill said there would have to be a shift in understanding for parents about what the changes would mean for their child.
``In the past we had an understanding of what an A to E is, but the ratings now are different, so C is a standard that is quite challenging in terms of what is being set as part of the Australian Curriculum,'' Mrs Bovill said.
``We've been saying to our community that C is for celebration, rather than C is for satisfactory, because the standard is quite high . . . so we should be celebrating the Cs.''
Mrs Bovill said she expected all schools had been going through a process of informing parents and Riverside had held parent information nights, put notices in the school newsletter and also discussed it with parents at parent-teacher interviews.
She said having one curriculum across the country was a great move forward.
She said it would enable resources being developed in one state to be used around the country, while it would also make it easier for children and teachers moving interstate.
