The Tasmanian Electoral Commission said it expected counting would continue until April 6.
Commissioner Andrew Hawkey said it was anticipated the final results would be declared by April 10.
"The critical process of rechecking all ballot papers will commence on Monday morning (March 25) and is expected to continue until at least Thursday evening," Mr Hawkey said.
"It is expected that no new additional votes will be added to the first preference tallies until Thursday, when telephone votes, out of division votes, interstate pre-poll and provisional votes will be counted."
Postal votes will be accepted until 10am on April 2.
The TEC hopes to start distributing preferences between candidates after midday on that day.
It said that was not certain because of the number of candidates, the change to requiring voters to number at least seven candidates and the timing of Easter.
TEC staff would not work on Good Friday or the following two days.
Counting first preferences from all booths was completed on March 24.
The distribution of preferences will clarify the results for a number of seats around the state that remain in doubt.
The TEC said nearly 4000 voters who were interstate or overseas used the new telephone voting service.
