A sexual harassment case launched by a former employee against Cricket Tasmania is heading for court-ordered mediation, despite the organisation believing there was little chance of reaching an agreement.

The Federal Court held a case management hearing in the matter of Renee Ferguson and Cricket Tasmania on Thursday, where it was revealed Ms Ferguson's sexual harassment complaint related to four former employees.
Justice Mordy Bromberg extended a suppression order that prevented the publication of details from Ms Ferguson's originating application, which included the specific allegations and the identities of the four people subject of the complaint.
The suppression order was first added on November 30 after a media organisation applied for Ms Ferguson's application. On Thursday, the four names - which were "inadvertently" mentioned during the hearing - were removed from the transcript on Justice Bromberg's order.
Acting for Ms Ferguson, Greg Barns SC requested the matter be sent to court-ordered mediation, and also for an extension of time for Ms Ferguson.
This was opposed by Bruce McTaggart SC, acting on behalf of Cricket Tasmania, who said they believed there was "no prospect of mediation resolving the matter".
In opposing the extension of time, he described Ms Ferguson's case as "particularly weak on the merits", that there had been a "very extensive delay of three years" and there had been "prejudice caused to Cricket Tasmania" as the employees had all left the organisation.
Cricket Tasmania ultimately agreed to participate in mediation, although Mr McTaggart said their position was that they were still "pessimistic" about it being successful.
Cricket Tasmania was unaware to what extent the former employees would participate in the matter, and requested enough time to ensure they could contact them all before a date for mediation was set. They did not know "the whereabouts" of one of the four.
The four will receive copies of Ms Ferguson's allegations, however.
Cricket Tasmania must provide a "short response to the allegations" before mediation, while Ms Ferguson must provide an affidavit in support of the extension of time and particulars about the loss and damage caused by the alleged sexual harassment.
A date for mediation has not yet been set.
