A 28-year-old man lured an associate to his Waverley unit so that he could steal drugs and money and then joined three other men in a near fatal attack, the Supreme Court in Launceston heard.

Sammual Clinton Wilmot pleaded guilty to aggravated armed robbery and intentionally causing grievous bodily harm on January 9-10, 2018.
The court heard that a co-accused man Clinton Wilson received a five-year and six-month sentence and Jake Herlihy a sentence of four years and nine months for the same crime. A third man is yet to face trial.
Crown prosecutor Tamila Smith said that Wilmot had been with Alexander Friend in the days before the attack when Friend withdrew $5000 from his bank account and picked up a large amount of ice from Ravenswood.
Wilmot formed a plan to steal the drugs and cash and invited the man to his Allwinton Court unit where three other men were due to arrive.
He texted the man and he arrived in a yellow Mazda utility. When he arrived Wilmot punched him to the jaw and the other men laid into him using a wooden chair leg and a baton and subjected him to a prolonged, vicious and brutal beating.
One of the men took the complainant's car keys and drove it to the front of Wilmot's unit and the men including Wilmot loaded him in the back.
On the way to Waverley Lake the man regained consciousness and managed to crawl out of the ute, falling onto the road.
The complainant was found covered in blood by the side of the road about 12.30am. He had black electrical tape around his neck and he was struggling to breathe.
Ms Smith detailed a long list of grievous and life-threatening injuries.
His cheekbones, eye sockets and nasal bones were fractured on both sides of his face. His lower jaw was badly fractured and dislocated. In his neck, the hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage were fractured.
Ms Smith said he was placed on a ventilator and was in intensive care until February 15 in an induced coma.
Defence counsel Evan Hughes said Wilmot had been subject to significant violence and threats in jail about giving evidence in an upcoming trial.
Justice Robert Pearce remanded him in custody for sentence on December 9 at 10am.
