Carey - who has been with the 'Canes for the past two seasons - will remain on the Apple Isle until at least the 2022/23 season after inking a new two year deal.
Speaking at Cooee Primary School as part of Cricket Tasmania's community cricket blitz, Carey said she was grateful to stay at the club.
"It's obviously really exciting; I've spent two years down here and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time down here so far," Carey said.
"And I'm really looking forward to the next couple of seasons."
It was a disappointing season for the Hurricanes last year, winning just three of a possible 14 matches.
Carey averaged 17.56 runs from the 13 games at the crease with a season best 38 runs, while taking 11 wickets, including a season best 3-14.
The performance on the pitch is one Carey hoped the side would be able to improve heading into the new year.
"It obviously a really different season for us last year - the whole competition really - and I suppose for the Hurricanes as a team, a fairly disappointing season," she said.
"We'll look to rectify that this year and we've got a few new signings.
"So, we'll have a bit of a different look side and get some people in places that we potentially wanted to perform a bit better in last season."
The announcement of Carey's signing for the season follows the announcement of Maisy Gibson, Rachel Priest, Chloe Rafferty, Amy Smith, Naomi Stalenberg, Molly Strano, Belinda Vakarewa and Tayla Vlaeminck already committing to the club.
The Hurricanes are understood to have additional players set to join the team.
It's Carey's hopes that the new "experienced" players will add depth to a key area needing improvement.
"I suppose our batting lineup in particular, if we get a bit more depth and post some bigger totals, it'll go a long way to helping us win some more games," she said.
"I thought we bowled really well as a unit and yet we didn't back that up with the bat, which made it a bit difficult at times and we made it hard for ourselves.
"So, hopefully these 'secret players' that are coming in will bolster our lineup.
"And if I can contribute a fair bit more in that area that would go a long way."
The Canes' 2021/22 campagin is scheduled to start on October 17 against the Melbourne Renegades.

With no guarantee a hub-style fixture won't be adopted for WBBL|07, Carey was hopeful that the side would have the chance to play in front of a home crowd.
"We love playing down here and I've had a look at the schedule and I've seen a few games in Tassie," she said.
"So, pending COVID - and we don't know what is happening with that situation - but we're certainly looking forward to those games.
"I just want to win some games for the Hurricanes."
The Hurricanes' first home game is scheduled for October 26 at UTAS Stadium against Brisbane Heat.
