The new return service, which will take off from September 7, includes three flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in each direction.
Virgin Australia's group chief commercial officer Dave Emerson said the airline was focused on reconnecting Australians in new ways and creating more travel opportunities.

"With open borders between South Australia and Tasmania and Northern Territory, we're able to finally start direct flights between Adelaide-Darwin, as well as offer a new direct service between Adelaide-Launceston," he said.
"More flying also means we'll have more of our team members in the air and more business for the many hundreds of tourism operators and hospitality venues who rely on the economic injection tourists provide their communities."
To kickstart the launch of the service, Virgin Australia is offering $59 one-way economy sale fares from today until midnight this Friday or until sold-out.
