Backyard Bands was added to Junction's 10th anniversary festival program, with The Sleepyheads, RABBIT, Kat Edwards and Hugo Bladel announced as the line-up on Tuesday.
The Sleepyheads' Pat Broxton said he had played at Junction solo before, but not with the band.
"[Backyard Bands] sounded interesting and a bit different," he said.
"I think it's going to be a pretty intimate kind of setting."
The event sees Launceston's iconic and historic Substation become the setting of an intimate sunset music concert.
Substation sits on the hills of West Launceston, with the early 20th century art deco hydro-electrical space transformed into a residence in 2013. It has been featured on Grand Designs and has won People's Choice at the Australian Architecture Awards.

Broxton said ticket holders could expect to hear most of the music fans of the band would already know, plus some new music the group had been working on.
"I think it will be cool being an intimate event as people will sit and listen," he said.
"There will be more of a focus on lyrics and the music."
The Backyard Bands project previously ran from 2014 until 2016 and was a sellout then too. The event will also include food and wine for those lucky enough to snag a ticket this time around.
"As long as the weather holds out for us, it'll be a nice night," Broxton said.
Junction Arts Festival will run from September 1-5 at Princes Square, Launceston, for the public to enjoy contemporary art and music.

The festival will finally be able to celebrate its 10th anniversary after COVID-19 stopped celebrations last year.
However, Junction still ran a 2020 event - Hometown - celebrating local Tasmanian acts.
"[Junction has] become a bit of a staple as far as the festival scene in Tassie goes," Broxton said.
"It's super important and [The Sleepyheads] are really happy to be a part of it."
