Woodley and Co's products are targeted at those who want to use local and sustainable building materials which help the environment.
Their product, hardwood flooring created from downgraded wood which would have otherwise been woodchips, is unique compared to a major chain store.
"We're offering something from an appearance point of view looks very different, the major chains are offer industry grades whereas we are offer something different," she said.
"I think as well because we are a specialist timber business, that's all we do, we have really good product knowledge."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The business is not about just selling their unique timber finishes, it also seeks to educate the public on how they can lessen the timber industries environmental impact.
"That's where we're sort of growing to, teaching people that we have this amazing array of eucalypts, they've all got different colour tones and properties," she said.
"We starting to teach people about all these amazing eucalypt species as well that they don't necessarily know about.
"It makes them think about how they use the timber."
Going forward, the business will move into more of a producer role as they work on a proof of concept with a local mill.
"[We] want to be in control of our own product and we're lucky to have found a mill that has the vision, who totally understand that this resource is shrinking," Ms Last said.
"That's an investment that I've decided to move forward with because I really believe there is an opportunity."
This comes after the business upgraded the premises and moved to 124 Forester Street, Invermay.
Customer demand has grown exponentially during the business' four years of operation, primarily through word of mouth.
"I think people are actually interested ... there's definitely a component of the market that want to know they're making a good choice," she said.
"There is a small component and growing component that do care about that sort of thing."
"I haven't advertised in 12 months because someone always seems to hear about what we're doing and believe in what we're doing and we get referrals from that."
The journey of operating a small business has been an adventure for Ms Last.
"It's funny because I'd never worked in the timber industry before but as an account director I'd always loved learning about other industries," she said.
"I've sort of mixed marketing and interior design and I love them both."
