State Parliament will resume sitting in June and Ms Johnston has requested to meet the Liberal's cabinet and have detailed briefings ahead of her first foray into State Parliament.

Ms Johnston said the request came from a place of wanting State Parliament to be a more collaborative institution as it resumes in the coming weeks.

"I am seeking a detailed briefing from them about their particular portfolios, I am very keen as a new member of Parliament to learn about what each of those ministers think are the priorities in those portfolios," she said.

"I want to work in a collaborative Parliament and I think the people of Tasmania deserve nothing less ... I am really keen to build strong relationships with ministers of government and understand what their priorities might be."

A state government spokesperson said that the government will fulfil Ms Johnston's wish for more information on cabinet minister's portfolios and responsibilities.

"Ministers received correspondence from Ms Johnston late on Friday requesting special briefings for her and her adviser," they said.

"The Government will put together a package of information for Ms Johnson relating to each portfolio including budget papers, financial reports, annual reports, and recent election policies.

"Ms Johnston will also be able to ask specific questions relating to portfolios in Parliament and will also have access to briefings on all legislation."
