The former Australian over-45s captain has been named the Northern satellite coach of the inaugural Tassie Tigers academy and is set to work alongside Khan Riley (North West) and Josh Mardell (South) under the guidance of head coach Luke Doerner.
Doerner, who will design the 12-week program that gets underway on Wednesday before a coordinating a year-long schedule next year, sung the praises of Withington earlier this week.
"Brett has a wealth of experience and hockey knowledge which he is passionate about about sharing with the younger generation of players," he said.

Withington said that is one of the main things that drew him to the role as he hopes to help put more Northern Tigers in the side with Kurt Budgeon as he strives to grow the game in Launceston.
"In my coaching and playing experience, you get to the point where want you've learnt, you want to be able to pass on and that intrigued me to inspire the next level of Tigers players and state players," he said.
"Giving people up here in Launceston to exposure of level and standard of training that's required to get in without having to go to Hobart and play [is the goal].
"Giving them access and giving the Tigers coaches access to more players from up here who are of that calibre up here as well."
