The Launceston Magistrates Court on Friday heard that a 49-year-old woman went to the aid of her 22-year-old daughter when a fight with another woman broke out on February 27, 2019.
Fleur Belinda Black and Chelsea Joan Black, of Kings Meadows, pleaded not guilty to the common assault of Hollie Moore.

They also pleaded not guilty to destroying property, namely the dress worn by Ms Moore.
Chelsea Black said there was a lot of history between the pair because Ms Moore was the ex-girlfriend of her elder brother.
She had consumed about seven small glasses of wine before the incident.
She had talked heatedly to Ms Moore about the past and what she (Ms Moore) had done to her family.
In a police interview, Ms Black said that she had poured a drink over Ms Moore.
"She punched me in the face, pushed me over and she got on top of me," Ms Black said. "I was using my legs to try and get her off me."
In court, Ms Black denied a suggestion from police prosecutor Mike Bonde that she was looking for a fight.
"The [pouring of] drink started the whole thing," Mr Bonde said.
"That's not correct," Ms Black replied.
Fleur Black said she ran 35 metres towards the fight when she heard yelling.
"I was yelling 'Hollie get off my daughter' and grabbed the back of her dress near the shoulder," she said.
Mrs Black said Ms Moore straddled her daughter. She said security guards broke up the fight.
She denied a suggestion from Mr Bonde that she had physically assaulted Ms Moore by pulling her hair after the fight was broken up.
"Not true at all," she said.
"When the brawl started between Hollie and Chelsea you got involved to try and make history right?, " Mr Bonde asked.
"My only concern was the welfare of my daughter," Mrs Black said.
Witness Natalie Williams said she heard a commotion.
She said Fleur Black was trying to grab Ms Moore's arm and the dress got torn in the process.
Defence counsel Patrick O' Halloran submitted that Ms Moore was not a reliable witness.
Magistrate Sharon Cure will make a decision on August 4 at 2.15pm.
