In 1983, 11 Blackwood Drive began as a community house and in the 1990s became a childcare centre before it was handed back to Housing Tasmania last month.
The community gathered for a City Mission run barbecue, to reminisce on memories and share photographs to farewell the site.

Northern Suburbs Community Centre general manager Denise Delphin said about 80 children turned up to her first school holiday program.
"I can just remember we were so overwhelmed, these kids just kept coming and coming," she said.
She said a decision on the spaces future would be decided by HT.
It had become surplus to NSCC programs, with neighbourhood houses at Newnham and Mowbray.
