Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding both incidents, including whether injuries sustained were accidental or whether there were suspicious circumstances.
The incidents are believed to be unrelated.
About 4.45pm, a 22-year-old man presented to the Launceston General Hospital with a bullet wound to the groin.
He was taken for surgery and is in a stable condition.
About 7pm, ambulance officers attended a house at Rocherlea where a 20-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the torso.
The man was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.
A modified double-barrel shotgun was seized by police.
Though the initial investigations indicated the incidents were unrelated, detectives are exploring all possibilities.
