In spite of capturing the Northern Championship win last year, Rangers have been forced into an extra match to reach the round of 16.
Football Tasmania had announced its qualifying round for four teams on Friday after 18 clubs sought interest in entering the Lakoseljac Cup.
ELSEWHERE IN SPORT
Rangers have been paired up to play host to championship rival Ulverstone in one of the two qualifiers.
South East United Football Club will play Hobart United in an all-Southern clash.
Both games will be played on Saturday, February 29.
The qualifying winners will join 14 other sides including Riverside Olympic, Launceston City and Launceston United battling for a place in the cup quarter finals.
The Lakoseljac Cup winner qualifies with 12 other A-League clubs in the FFA Cup.
