About 6.40am, a 73-year-old man from Bellingham was driving along Lilydale Road towards Launceston.
Tasmania Police Inspector Ruth Orr said the vehicle left the roadway and rolled as it traveled down the Fingerpost Hill.
"The investigation is still ongoing at this time. I can say that it doesn't appear that speed was a factor and it doesn't appear that alcohol or drugs were involved. The man was also wearing a seatbelt," she said.
"It could well be that he experienced some sort of medical incident. But as I said we're still conducting investigation but those other factors don't appear to be in play at this time."
IN OTHER NEWS:
A passing motorist reported the crash to police, Tasmania Police First-Class Constable Nigel Housego said.
"The vehicle left the road on the left-hand side, gone through a ditch, rolled several times and landed on its roof, after travelling almost 100 metres" he said.
At the time of the crash, the road conditions were dry, and the weather was clear.
The road was fully closed, and all traffic diverted, until about 8.30am.
"We do appreciate the patience of the public in those sort of situations," Inspector Orr said.
It is unknown where the man was travelling to.
Police do not believer any other passengers or vehicles were involved in the crash.
Inspector Orr said anyone who saw a white Toyota Hilux two-wheel drive travelling on Lilydale Road and has information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
