A firearms amnesty is being held by Tasmania Police at Churchill Park Sports Ground between 9am and 5pm on May 30.

Senior Sergeant Dean McMahon said firearms should be unloaded before they're brought to the amnesty.
"When you arrive at the sports ground please park in the designated area where a police officer will assist," he said.
There are no penalties for people who surrender guns or ammunition during an amnesty.
Tasmania has an ongoing gun amnesty, with community members encouraged to speak to their local police if they want to hand in firearms.
