Crowds at the 2019 Tasmania Supersprint at Symmons Plains were almost on par with last year as spectators travelled from far and wide for the annual weekend of racing south of Launceston.

The three-day attendance of 54,926 was only marginally down on last year's 55,392, with the threat of showers on Sunday keeping some punters at home.

It was a pleasing result for organisers however.
Supercars Championship spokesperson Cole Hitchcock said pre-sales helped to keep attendances high.
"[It was] on pace with last year, walk-ups a little slower today, no doubt due to the wind and threat of showers," he said.
"Otherwise we are very happy with that."
It was also a historic event for Symmons Plains, which celebrated its 50th anniversary of touring car racing.
Shane van Gisbergen celebrated his third career win at the venue, while Scott McLaughlin's Saturday win helped him join the illustrious list of former winners including Peter Brock, Allan Moffat, Dick Johnson, Mark Skaife and Marcos Ambrose.
