Codie Ken Fazackerley appeared before Justice Robert Pearce in the Launceston Supreme Court on Wednesday
The 27-year-old was accused of threatening Craig Kirkland with a knife, punching him twice and stealing $250 in January 2017.
Crown Prosecutor Luke Ogden told the court the matter had since resolved and there was no need for a trial.
A new indictment was filed on February 5 and the alternative charge of assault was put to Fazackerley in relation to him punching Mr Kirkland in the head at the victim’s Ravenswood house.
Fazackerey pleaded guilty to assault. Both indictments were put to the jurors who returned an immediate verdict of not guilty to aggravated armed robbery but guilty to assault.
Justice Pearce said Fazackerey was guilty of two charges of assault; one he pleaded guilty to on Wednesday and another from the original indictment. Fazackerey was remanded to reappear on February 22.
