Tasmanian cricket legend Ricky Ponting has donated an autographed cricket bat to be auctioned by The Examiner.

All funds raised will go towards the Empty Stocking Appeal, which is in its 109th year, and supports four Launceston-based charities.
A goal of $60,000 has been set, which will be divided equally between the Salvation Army, City Mission, the St Vincent de Paul Society and the Launceston Benevolent Society.
