The comedic team of John X, Graeme Paine, Andrew Casey and Andrew Colrain will perform the history of four decades of revue gags as part of this year’s performance.
Performer John X said the show was perfect for people who think the world is turning into a nanny state.
“We have the perfect antidote for people sick of political correctness - a good dose of political incorrectness,” he said.
“It will be so great to come back to Launceston where there is a loyal uni revue following to show them some of the funniest sketches from the days of old.”
He said Launceston crowds had traditionally enjoyed revue performances in the past.
“Revues have always been popular, people feel a bit more constrained these days, with political correctness, so revues offer a bit of relaxation from that,” he said.
However, he said revue humour was ‘not for the faint-hearted’ or those who did not see the funny side to political incorrectness.
With more than 60 revues under their collective belts, the performers will present the very best of “the oldies but goodies.”
The Legends of Revue will feature a number of old revue gags, songs and dances – some with a uniquely Tasmanian flavour.
John X said the show also was a more intimate show than typical uni revues.
“We are in a smaller venue so you aren’t sitting in the back of the Princess Theatre like you would be a uni revue, the jokes start right from the minute you enter the foyer,” he said.
The Legends of Revue also pride themselves on having unique shows each night.
“We are up there laughing with the audience, none of our shows are ever the same” he said.
The show also has the added glamour in the form of Karen McMullen, Imogen Paine, Erin Martin, Cassie le Fevre and Amy Thimm-Barrett - known affectionately as the ‘Front Bums’.
Legends of Revue Rides Again will be performed at the Earl Arts Centre from August 10-12 and The Burnie Arts and Function Centre on August 25-26 August.
It is the first time the show will be played on the North-West Coast.
Tickets are available from the venues either online or at the box office.
