The nine-year-old Hagley Primary School student was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at the age of four and has been told he will likely lose his ability to walk this year.
Thankfully, Exeter has rallied behind the Ansell family, with a number of organisations helping out with donations and fundraisers.
On Thursday, the Exeter Services and Community Club contributed $3000 to the Ansell family and a further $3000 to the family of Exeter 22-year-old Aran Miller, who is representing Australia at the Trisome Games.

Dad Simon agreed.
“I get teary and so does Jesse because the love of people and the spirit in the community is just absolutely incredible,” he said.
