The mother of four was killed by her partner in a motel room at the Penny Royal in 2012.
With a band, a barbecue and some white ribbons, those present took a stand against domestic violence.
Jessica’s mother Donna Kupsch said the day was about remembering her daughter and raising awareness of domestic violence.
Mrs Kupsch said her message was for people to keep pushing their loved ones to get help.
‘‘Make sure it doesn’t happen to yours ... don’t give up on them,’’ she said.
‘‘If I can save one life my job is done.
‘‘If she only listened to me. I spoke to her an hour before, and I told her to come home. She said ‘no, it’s OK Mum, he’s got to know it’s over’, and that was it. If she’d only listened.’’
Yesterday’s event was organised by Denise Delphin, of the Northern Suburbs Community Centre, and Russell MacKenzie, chaplain of East Tamar Primary School.
Mrs Kupsch said she hoped to make a speech, as did Jessica’s 10-year-old daughter Grace.
Mrs Kupsch said it was vital that children knew they could tell people at school if family violence occurred at home.
The event was also aimed at helping the family raise funds for a home extension to make space for Jessica’s children.
