Live musical venues Club 54 and The Gunners Arms will attempt to contain the madness over two nights while hosting 16 bands and solo artists with a blistering Friday night opening show and a Saturday acoustic afternoon before the final gig on Saturday night.
Brisbane punk rock band The Gifthorse will lead the charge with mainland counterparts The Sinking Teeth, Ceres, Jen Buxton and Ben David.
Tassie ex-pat Linc Le Fevre and band The Insiders will join the roster with local legends Luca Brasi, Bennylava, Isaac Bowen, Hounds of Hiroshima, Knife Hands, and Speech Patterns.
The Sugarcanes, Outright, Georgia Maq and Bec Stevens are also down to appear.
Organiser Tyler Richardson said the showcase concept was based on Melbourne’s annual Poison City Weekender.
‘‘I’d consider the majority of the bands to have a punk kind of influence — bands, such as Linc Le Fevre and The Insiders, have an alt-country tinge, [and] Outright play classic political and socially motivated hardcore,’’ he said.
‘‘The Gifthorse definitely have a lot of ’90s midwest emo-punk influences, and in between there are some of the finest acoustic talents in the country.’’
Almost one-third of the available tickets for the weekend have been sold within 24 hours.
’Til The Wheels Fall Off will start on Friday, October 3.
Weekend tickets are available through Oztix or the event’s Facebook page.
Tickets will be sold on the door for separate shows until sold out.
