The Frankford 14-year- old heads to New Caledonia tomorrow to contest the under-58kg division at the Oceania Championships.
"I'm a little bit nervous, but looking forward to it," she said.
"I'm hoping to come back with the gold because we want to get the team in the top three to qualify for the Youth Olympics in China."
One of only two Tasmanians in the national youth team, along with Jake Moore from Hobart, the Exeter High student won the best female under- 15 lifter at last year's national titles and also claimed a lifter's award at the state championships.
Coached by Mark Brown at Launceston PCYC, she is due to compete on Wednesday and hasn't been slow to seek advice from older sister Jenna, a national weightlifting champion who represented Australia at the last Commonwealth Games and has recently made the team for this year's event in Glasgow.
"She told me to just stay with the group and do my best, don't stress and stay calm," said Charrae, who has similar long-term goals as her sister.
"I hope ultimately to go to the Olympics. I just love trying to go to the next step all the time and would love to compete with Jenna having seen how much she has improved."
