Another Mayfield home has been gutted by fire overnight. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Tasmania Police and Fire Services were first alerted to the fire on Cook Crescent around 9pm on Tuesday night.
Samantha Sampson, a resident of Cook Crescent, first became aware to the fire a few doors down when a "toxic smell" filled the street.
"We came out and the house was on fire. Then the police arrived and firefighters right after that," she said.
Launceston Police Sergeant Josh Hayes said the residents of the house were not inside at the time of the fire and were now being contacted.
"We're asking if anyone saw or heard any suspicious behaviour in the Cook Crescent area around 9pm this evening to contact Launceston Police Station or Crime Stoppers. Any information can be passed anonymously," he added.
This is the latest in a series of fires in Mayfield and the surrounding suburbs over the past two months, which included four fires during one week in September.
Anyone with information can contact the police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
