West Tamar mayor Christina Holmdahl said the strategy would provide an action plan to facilitate the best outcomes for residents and visitors.

The proposed trail improvement projects would see the linking of existing trails, population centres and destinations primarily along the foreshore whilst also providing new additions such as signage, shade, seating and amenities.
The strategy hopes to provide West Tamar residents with a local destination, while attracting tourists to the West Tamar region.
"It is important to our community that they're able to experience tracks and trails for a range of uses including cycling, walking and running, providing opportunities for transport, exercise, recreation and sightseeing," Cr Holmdahl said.
"This study has been undertaken with the goal of guiding the development of trails within the municipality towards a comprehensive network that is accessible for all and promotes active living, recreation and encourages tourism."
Tamar Bicycle Users Group vice president Malcolm Reid said the group had been involved in the consultation and welcomed the strategy.
"We're very supportive of the strategy of developing the trails, not just for cyclists, but for walkers and runners as well," Mr Reid said.
"This is really important, with increasing traffic on the West Tamar highway, we think it's really important for the future of our community both in environmental terms but in health outcomes.
"There's an enormous potential benefit in West Tamar developing this strategy."
Mr Reid said the group was particularly interested in one aspect of the Strategy Plan- a trail link between Legana and Launceston.
The plan lists a shared trail from Tamar Marine through to the northern end of the Swan Point Trail via Legana as one of the potential new trail experiences.
"Our main priority has always been a link between Launceston CBD and Legana," Mr Reid said.
"It would be a fantastic asset, both for health outcomes, but for local tourism and business."
