Organisers made the decision to pull the pin after a snap three-day lockdown was announced for the south of the state, from 6pm on Friday, October 15.

In a statement, festival organisers said the "difficult" decision came down to a need to prioritise the health and safety of all involved.

"Following today's statement from Premier Peter Gutwein, and with the safety of our staff, artists, local community, contractors and audiences in mind, we have made the decision to cancel The Unconformity Festival," they said.

"All events taking place at The Unconformity festival today and this weekend have been cancelled, effective immediately.

"If you are already on the West Coast and from the South, the safest thing to do is quarantine yourself as per the requirements available on the Tasmanian Government website.

"The Unconformity festival is an event that encompasses thousands of moving parts, and we are unpicking how the cancellation will impact each person who has a connection with us. This will be a complex task."

Ticketholders will be contacted over the coming days in regards to refunds.

Organisers have requested that anyone south of the state intending to come to the festival adhere to quarantine recommendations.
