Hannah Lenthall earned selection in the under-19s 2021/22 national squad after an impressive debut season with the Cavaliers.

Lenthall switched to the Cavaliers prior to the recently concluded season after playing for cross-town rivals, the Northern Hawks.

The Cavaliers youngster is no stranger to the Australian squad after being selected last season as part of the under-19s set-up and was a member of the under-17s squad prior to that.

"I was really excited, to be honest I didn't expect it at all, just because of COVID and what has gone on this year, it was a really nice surprise to get the email," Lenthall said.

"I am really excited to go away with some of the girls who I already know and some new girls as well and all the coaches ... I was just so excited, I can't wait so hopefully it goes ahead."

It was not the only good news for Tasmanian netball with Ashlea Turner and Esther Kidmas earning selection in the under-17s national squad for the upcoming season.

The pair have earned their selection debut in the high performance pathway after impressive seasons for Cripps Waratahs and the Cavaliers respectively.

The performance pathway squads are designed to help accelerate players' development towards potential national selection in the future.

"Every time I've gone, I've learned something new, it's about training with other girls at that higher level, they're all there for the same reason to get better which is awesome," Lenthall said.

"We learn things of our coaches for specific areas, I am centre court I would go with the centre court coaches and learn how to really make my position, a good position as in learning how to do the role.

"I want to take it and challenge myself [to go] as far as possible, if the opportunity arrives I'll grab them with two hands and go with it but I just want to make sure I am at my absolute best all the time and challenging myself."

Netball Australia's Head of Pathway Kristen Barnes said these pathway presented great opportunities.

"Former athletes who have taken part in these programs have gone on to achieve the highest rank of netball at a national and international level," she said.

"We will continue to nurture all involved in the pathway to reach the same levels of success."
