Launceston came out firing from the first bounce, with Madison Shaw scoring the team's first goal shortly after Georgia Hill got them on the scoreboard with a behind.
The Blues attacked hard in Old Scotch's offensive half, leaving the Thistles scoreless at the end of the first quarter.
Despite a downpour at the start of the second quarter and being 13 points down, Old Scotch fought hard to get on the scoreboard.
But relentless defending from Launceston saw the ball quickly move back into their offensive half.
Old Scotch found momentum in the second quarter and it was eventually rewarded when Kara Hennessy kicked the team's first goal of the game just before half-time.

The Thistles moved the ball much more freely and ramped up pressure on the Blues, who were kept goal-less in the second quarter.
Old Scotch kept up its intensity in the third quarter with Hennessy scoring her second goal, putting her team within two points of the Blues.
The Thistles created a number of opportunities in their offensive half, but Launceston upped their defensive pressure, dragging down every Old Scotch player who got a hand on the ball near the goal square.
The Blues were kept scoreless in the third, with Old Scotch only one point behind going into the fourth quarter.
The Thistles managed to equalise twice in the final quarter, but Launceston scored another goal minutes before the final siren to claim the win 3.4 (22) to 2.4 (16).
Old Scotch will get another chance to secure a grand final spot next week when it plays the winner of Sunday's knockout final between Scottsdale and Old Launcestonians.
