The Cavs moved efficiently through their offensive third to get out to an early 8-0 lead, before Devon were able to get on the board with about 10 minutes in.

Attacking pieces Piper Sanders, Shelby Miller and Estelle Margetts were able to stretch Devon thin which allowed the Cavs defence to control the tempo of the fast-paced match.

"We were really proud because the things we worked on at training - we executed in the game today [Saturday]," Cavaliers co-coach Dannie Carstens said.

"We looked at really making an impact early defensively, winning the ball ... attack-wise we were looking to build those connections.

"We thought they did that really well most of the match."

Devon weren't without fight, however consistent errors in the mid-court allowed the home side to capitalise.

But a few miscues and miscommunication from the Cavs as the game progressed meant things were tense.

Both Margetts, and shooter Hayley McDougall also made sure they were quick to recover missed shots, meaning most trips into their zone yielded points.

Junior attacker Olive Morris was also able to continue this athleticism in her time on court.

Defensively, Bec Hyland kept a lid on things throughout the game, aggressively forcing Devon to make mistake after mistake in their zone.

The Cavs have a bye next week before facing the table-topping Northern Hawks.
