The Northern Tasmanian Netball Assocation's oldest club, the Gee Tees, gets its opportunity to finally celebrate 50 years on Friday night, doing so with a twist.
After COVID wiped out any chance to celebrate the milestone last year, having been in operation since 1970, the historic club is pitting its past and present players against each other under the Silverdome's roof.
With the match taking to court at 6pm, event organiser and mid-week coordinator Molly Gibbons, who helped recruit players for the teams, said something mid-season and casual fitted the bill for the milestone.

"We were just thinking of ways to be able to celebrate the club, where we've come from and where we are going and it brings everyone together in a bit of a casual way as opposed to a structured event which at the moment is too hard to do," she said.
"We've got a really good life member squad and they are all really supportive, so to come back and celebrate the club's history and the future of where we are going, we've got a really strong junior and senior program going at the moment which we haven't had for a while, will be amazing."
From the eight-year-olds in the Net Set Go program to the club's over-30s masters team and everything in between, the Gee Tees have over 300 members and supporters.
Club vice-president Tracey Nish thanked the volunteers for making the club as good as it can be following the different year 2020 threw at the community.
"All of our team members and coaches and other background staff are volunteers and they go over and above just to keep the interest there because it could have waned this year but we've got 31 teams, which is probably higher than a lot of years so the interest is still there," she said.
"A lot of the older girls have moved on but it gives the younger girls some scope and some of our older players, like me, are still playing on a Sunday night, so we get to play with the younger girls."
The event will cost $2 entry and will see the club's 2020 junior coach award-winner Lavinia Freeland take control of the current side.
