An Invermay man has been arrested and charged over a recent shooting.

The 22-year-old was taken into custody overnight, in relation to the shooting of another Invermay man outside his home on the morning of April 22.
The 52-year-old victim was left with serious injuries after he confronted two alleged car burglars, and was ultimately shot.
The victim underwent surgery at the Launceston General Hospital, but was now recovering at home. He was expected to require further surgeries.

The alleged shooter will face charges of wounding, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm with criminal intent, recklessly discharge a firearm, attempted motor vehicle stealing, and stealing.
The 22-year-old will appear in Launceston Magistrates Court this morning.
