The 25-year-old moved North after getting a job in Launceston.
"In terms of why I wanted to go to the Cavs - I love their work ethic, their professionalism and I just wanted to be a part of that culture," Hyland said.
"Playing my old team for the first game - that's always going to be a bit nerve-wracking, love those girls.
"I'll try not to pass it to them ... we'll just keep it on the court and it'll be fine."

The Northern Hawks will also be in Hobart, playing against Waratah on Saturday before hitting out against Karana on Sunday.

"For us, it's about going into round one and two back-to-back and recovery.
"We'll be heading to the beach on Saturday, getting in the water, making sure we're eating and sleeping well and backing it up at 11am on Sunday - it's a very short turnaround."
Tomorrow's matches will start at 2pm for the Cavs, and 5pm for the Hawks.
