WBBL: Hayley Jensen signs for Hobart Hurricanes

The 28-year-old, who has previously played for the Melbourne Renegades, Stars and Perth Scorchers, returns to the WBBL after a one-year hiatus.

She joins West Indian Hayley Matthews, fellow New Zealander Rachel Priest and South African Chloe Tryon as the Hurricanes' international contingent while the side boasts two Australian representatives in Nicola Carey and Belinda Vakarewa.

Coach Salliann Briggs said Jensen brings experience to her line-up.

"She does all three disciplines very well," she said.

"[She] gives us options in the powerplay if we need it, [is] a very dominant batter in the middle order - we've seen that in the recent series against Australia - [she's] a great addition to the last spot in our team."

While only three overseas players can take part in one game, the Hurricanes were given compensation to sign a fourth due to the injury of marquee player Tayla Vlaeminck.

The finalising of the squad also means English stalwart Heather Knight won't return to the side for the league's sixth installment - instead signing with Sydney Thunder.

"We had to think long and hard about Heather and her role. I think the key thing for the Hurricanes over the past two years is that batting powerplay," Briggs said.

"We knew that Hayley Matthews was coming back and Chloe Tryon had such an amazing year last year that we had to re-sign her, so it was always that last overseas spot that we worked hard and thought long about and we thought actually, we'd rather invest that last spot as an opening partnership.

"It was obviously a hard decision with Heather, she's been incredibly loyal ... but we decided to do what was best for the team."
