Hosted by the Northern Tasmanian Development Corporation with guest speakers from across the business sector, the event will provide information on key areas of importance when it comes to job searching, including networking, transferring skills between industries and entrepreneurship.
Chief executive Mark Baker said the event is designed to empower people to seek employment locally and to retain skilled workers in the region.
"The session comes at a critical time in the labour market with changes to JobKeeper," he said.
In other news:
"People impacted by unemployment should be encouraged to know that there are jobs out there.
"This session will provide the tips, connections and contacts to give yourself the skills and confidence to get working in a competing environment."
NTDC population attraction co-ordinator Edward Obi said many employers consider these types of skills more important than hard skills when it comes to hiring staff.
"This event will highlight the important soft skills and other factors that influence hiring decisions," Mr Obi said.
Speakers include:
- Andrew Pitt, Launceston Chamber of Commerce president
- Karina Dambergs, Fermentas chief executive
- James McCormack, employment co-ordinator Northern Tasmania
- Adam Mostogl, Van Diemen Project director
- Ari Reich, NEIS Consultant
The free event, titled "Let's Get Working", will be held at the Launceston Town Hall from 9am.
More information, including ticket details and guest speakers, can be found on the NTDC website.
