A promotional opportunity being offered by the Tasmania Zoo at Riverside has been so successful that scammers have moved in, owner Rochelle Penney says.
Ms Penney said a "Cheetah Experience" competition being offered via the zoo's Facebook site had attracted 2300 likes in less than 24 hours.
The competition offers the winner the opportunity to get behind the scenes tours and closely observe the Zoo's two Cheetahs.

Ms Penney said a fake profile had been set up which was congratulating people who liked the page asking for them to provide bank account details if they wanted to go to the next round of the competition.
"It has been professionally done and used our logo so looks realistic," Ms Penney said.
"We have been contacted by several people who actually passed on their details but there could be a lot more if they approach everyone who has responded.
Ms Penney said Tasmania Zoo had complained to Facebook about the scheme.
Facebook had responded saying the approach did not go against Facebook's guidelines, Tasmania Zoo are hoping the fake page will be removed soon.
Winners of the competition are expected to be announced on July 6.
