Auctioneer and director Neil O'Brien said the demand for auctions had not tapered off despite the inability to bid in person.

"It was either move online or basically close with the new restrictions that are in place and we had quite a lot of stock already accumulated," he said.
"Our customers had given us a fair bit of feedback asking what we were going to do and were hoping that we could continue."

He said online auctions aren't too different to in person auctions.
"The only difference is that people have got a lot longer period to bid," he said.
"[The have] a closing time and it is a definite closing time, so people can wait till the very last second to put their bid online otherwise if they want to they can bid several days beforehand and keep an eye on it."
Mr O'Brien said in their first attempt at an online auction they managed to sell 80 per cent of the available items.
"We were very happy with the outcome of the first auction and we will continue on until the restrictions are no longer in place," he said.
The next auction started Friday afternoon and will close at 6 pm on April 30.
