Australia Pacific Airports has developed a preliminary draft of the Launceston Airport Master Plan 2020.
The report aims to predict certain trends the airport will experience over the next few decades and proposes developments to acclimatise to those trends.
This includes possible additions and expansions to the gate lounges as well as the arrival and departure halls.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Draft illustrations for the arrivals hall, which would open up the area and make room for dining area and retail installations similar to the departure lounge, are also discussed in the plan.
When the plan was first released, general manager Paul Hogden said the arrivals hall could be pushed right out to the front of the terminal.
The number of passenger movements at Launceston Airport is predicted to increase to 1.9 million by 2028.
Copies of the plan are available at the airport, or on the airport's website.
Three community consultation sessions will be held on Thursday February 27. The first will be held at Launceston Library from 10am until 12pm. Another session will be held at Longford Library from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. The final session will be held at the Launceston Airport Office from 6pm until 7pm. Public submissions close on the master plan at 5pm on March 6.
The master plan was first released in December last year. The works could be completed within the next five years if necessary.
The report is expected to be submitted to the federal government in May.
